Woman Charged With Maiming While DUI After Striking Pedestrian In Virginia, Police Say

A pedestrian suffered serious injuries over the weekend after being struck by an allegedly intoxicated driver in Prince William County who was arrested on Monday for maiming him, officials say.

Manassas resident Marta Alicia Molina Morales, 31, is facing a pair of charges following a crash reported early on Sunday morning that left a 26-year-old man injured.

Officers were called shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 6 to the 9500 block of Lomond Drive in Manassas to investigate a crash, according to a spokesperson from the Prince William County Police Department.

Investigators say that Molina Morales was behind the wheel when she struck two parked cars and the pedestrian, who had been walking in the area at the time of the crash. It was later determined that the driver was intoxicated at the time.

According to police, the pedestrian initially left the area, but was tracked down by officers with "serious injuries to his upper body." He was taken to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment of the non-life-threatening injuries. 

No other injuries were reported.

Molina Morales was arrested on Oct. 7 and charged with maiming while DUI, and DUI.

Bond was set at $10,000 secured and her next court date was pending on Monday morning.
